About Trevor Awalt

Trevor Awalt I have enjoyed Photography since I started back in the 1990's with a OM10 Olympus SLR, 50mm and 135mm prime lenses, with a C85 flash. Back then I just took photo's on vacations due to the cost of processing film.

In 2001 I started into Digital Photography by taking pictures for a local high school basketball team using a Kodak 1.6Mpix DC265 digital camera.

I tried a Canon Powershot 3.1Mpix A75 in 2005, but was not too excited with the results compared to 35mm film.

In 2007 I decided to upgrade to a Canon 8Mpix SX100IS with 10x Optical Zoom which then rekindled my interest in Photography. As I was spending more time out walking my dog I was taking pictures every day and became interested in capturing images of sea ducks which then in 2009 I upgraded to a bridge camera, the Canon 10Mpix SX10IS with 20x Optical Zoom. I continued taking pictures daily and started to get more serious, reading and learning as much as I could.

I began sharing my pictures online via Google Picasa which was a great experience. As I began to seek out other photographers and comment on their work they began to visit my images and with their supportive comments It not only helped me improve my images it also helped with my confidence. Since Google has updated the Picasa platform to Google Plus I have continued to network with many more Photographers and Artists around the globe.

I finally came to the realization that the quality of the images I was trying to achieve required me to make the step to a DSLR. This was a painful experience as I spent 10 months reading and rationalizing as to what DSLR to purchase. In June of 2010 I decided to upgrade to a Canon 50D which is what I have used up until my recent acquisitions (March 2012) a Canon 5DMKII and (Feb 2013) a Canon 7D.

I am still on my journey as a Photographer continuing to improve my skills. I am taking every opportunity to feed my love for photography to capture images of the landscapes, wildlife and people in the Atlantic Provinces and other locations in North America.

Photography is a journey and a continual learning experience which I am still working hard at to continue to improve. I continue to share my work on Social Media with fellow Photographers all around the globe and I am so inspired by so many talented Artists who are willing to share their knowledge which helps me to grow within a craft that can take a lifetime to master.
